Let’s catch up - Week of July 5 (Early is the new on time & and more stories)
What a great week we had! Sun, rain and a finish with a sticker stop in Alpena! It was so much fun meeting and reconnecting with friends in Alpena. Everyone loved the “God’s Got This” bracelets and the Choose Hope yard signs. Don’t forget we will be doing more stops. Here is a link to the whole list: The Promise FM Summer Sticker Stops
Monday the wow story was about the incredible Sydney McLaughlin. She now holds the new World Record for 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.90 seconds. Sydney pointed to God the whole way giving him all the glory. Sydney also gave a great reminder to all of us to keep our eyes on God. If you are looking for an inspiring soul to share with your daughters (and yourself) on Instagram, Sydney McLaughlin is wonderful. She points to Jesus and she is just a beautiful soul. Did you know that early is the new on time? Apparently, time really stresses people out. I read this article that also shared that more than 40% of us have stretched the truth a bit when it comes to start times in order to get those late friends and family members to show up on time. I have thought about this. Usually I just kind of make the “We should leave by…” my go-to and make everyone leave earlier. This is more to trick me because I love the snooze button. The not surprising thing for me was 7 out of 10 friend groups said they had a friend who was always late and many admitted to be THAT friend. I’m trying not to be that friend, which is why I have the best husband ever!

This week our devotional shared several times about speaking positively to yourself. If you are reading this and you find speaking positively to yourself a struggle, try to say one good thing to yourself today. Then tomorrow up it to two. It really will be easier as you go. Remember you are loved! Romans 5:8 tells us this “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Nine-year-old Brayden and his friends planted a sunflower seed in the spring and the plant that bloomed became extra special to Brayden. He would water it, care for it and would check in on it before his weekly cancer treatments. The flower always gave him a boost. When someone stole the flower, Brayden’s neighbors showed love for Brayden and his family by planting more sunflowers and also tying sunflowers to their trees! Brayden is reminded every day that he is loved by his whole community!

Here’s a great tip for the garden!
So have you wanted to compost but well don’t have the time to compost? I found out that you can compost your clean banana peels straight in your soil! That you can just kind of dig in between your plants and bury those bad boys and the potassium in the peels will be super beneficial to your plant roots! Lifehacker has a lot of great tips on this beyond the banana peels check out the story at the link below.
