Let’s catch up - Week of July 26 (Fun stories of connection)
Sometimes we don’t get to spend a whole day together. Like ALL THE TIME, but maybe you’d like to catch up. I hope this will help.
Out and about
We had another wonderful wrap-up to the week at a sticker stop. It was great seeing everyone who showed up to VanDrie Home Furnishings in Cadillac. Our next sticker stop is going to be Friday, August 27th from 2 pm to 4 pm at Victorian City Car Port located at 2 Bridge Street - Manistee, Michigan. To keep up to date, here’s our sticker stop link. Unity Christian Music Festival is right around the corner August 11-14th. The team is really hoping to see you there! Details about Unity are here. The rest of the week’s catch-up is below.
We can make a difference at any age
We’ve all heard the phrase “Bloom where you’re planted,” 98-year-old World War II veteran Herman Mehling has followed this his whole life. Not only did he serve in World War II, but he has served as a police officer in New York and a firefighter as well. Now he serves as a blessing for others with his talent for woodworking making Jesus plaques. He gives them away and shares Jesus all over the country in fact the world. The plaques have even made it to Antarctica. I hope I can share the love of Jesus as Herman does at 98.

Town has a ball
I think people want to bond more than we might think. The town of Stoughton, WI bonded in a big way with a giant beach ball (seriously this thing was huge). I didn’t read where it came from but as it rolled and bounced into town, many people stopped, signed it and took selfies with it. Really my kind of town.

Instagram Fan Follow
I’m kind of a fan of Jamie Feliz, wife of Jordan Feliz. She is obviously an awesome mom, and I really love that is she is totally savvy when it comes to creativity (and frugality too). She is an artist. She has a tutorial on her Instagram of reverse tye-dye that is pretty awesome, but her glamping set up for their daughter’s sixth birthday (and first slumber party) is the stuff of dreams! I have told every mama I have run into about it. Like I want her to be my mom. I have told everyone about her, and how can I not share a link to her Instagram. She is one of my favorite follows.

Besties make a difference
Friends are there for you in the thick and thin of it no matter how old you are or what you are going through and besties 8-year-old Jesse and 7-year-old Claire know that full well. Back in 2020 Claire was diagnosed with cancer at the brain stem. The prognosis for her type of cancer is not good but Claire is a fighter. An experimental treatment has been going great and her tumor is shrinking. Jessie is doing what he can to help including auctioning of his hog that he has raised for the past year. Jesse ended up raising $16,000 from buyer 1 that’s right the first winner actually said “Sell it again!” So the hog sold again for another $3000 making a total of $19,000! Friends make a difference (and so does an amazing community).
