A big part of decluttering is using the Sell, Donate and Maybe boxes. But Taryn from Apartment Therapy also suggests the “Box & Banish” method with a decluttering box.

DAY 19: TRY THE “BOX AND BANISH” METHOD WITH YOUR “MAYBE” ITEMS.

Taryn suggests having a “decluttering box” in your closet or home at all times. So this is separate from the three boxes that you use when you blitz through various rooms. Sometimes you come across something that you are wondering, “do I really need this?” When you do, toss it in the decluttering box! Boom! If you decide a little later you want it or need it, you grab it. When the box fills up you donate it or sell the items at a yard sale.

PS there is no steadfast rule saying you HAVE to run out the door with the box once it is full. You can always give it a last go over. Now if you have been doing the three-box method during the challenge which was Sell, Donate, and Maybe, the Maybe box is your perfect start to the box and banish method.
