One Track Mind

It’s great to be part of something BIG, but 1 person still matters.  & it took a train station in London to remind us of that.

When you get off the train @ Embankment Park, there’s a gap between the train & the platform – so a little voice comes on & says “Mind the Gap.” That voice belonged to Oswald McCollum.  When he passed away in 2007, his wife would go down & sit in the station until a train came in – just so she could hear his voice again.

Until 1 day – it was gone.

She started poking around to see what happened & they told her they’d just put in a new digital system & couldn’t transfer the voice.  But as the people at the company began to discuss it, they were so moved by her story, they not only chased the original recording down & gave it to her – they decided on that 1 track in the system, the one where she goes every day – they would return HIS voice to the announcement – just for her.
