State Rep. Phil Potvin

Friday, August 26th at 8:00 am we will air our fifth interview in our series, "The Road to Decision" with State Rep. Phil Potvin from the 102nd District of Michigan. Rep. Potvin lives in Cadillac and is married to Jan and they have four children and eight grandchildren. He is a member of St. Ann's Catholic Parish in Cadillac and he serves as an active lector, Eucharist Minister, and lay leader of Sunday Celebrations.  He is a weekly volunteer at Mercy Hospital and Eucharist Minister to the shut ins at Green Acres Retirement Home.State Representative Phil Potvin of Cadillac was first elected in November 2010 to represent residents of Wexford, and Mecosta counties and part of Osceola County including Reed City and the townships of Burdell, Cedar, Hartwick, Le Roy, Lincoln, Richmond and Rose Lake.Potvin is a graduate of the Michigan Military Academy and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree from Albion College. He is a graduate of Cadillac High School.Potvin retired as Chief Executive Officer of Western Concrete in 2006 and continues as a consultant to the company for property management in Big Rapids and Cadillac, as well as doing outside sales for the Hope Network in Cadillac and Paris. In 2003, Potvin was elected to a term as chairman of the Board of the National Concrete Masonry Association, serving five years on the executive committee of that association. In serving those two roles, he had numerous trips to Washington D.C. for direct conversations with national leaders.His first career was in secondary education and he continues that role as a certified substitute teacher in the Cadillac area. Potvin is a lifelong member of the Michigan National Guard (ret), and served as a platoon tank commander at the Cadillac Armory.In his leisure time, Phil enjoys both bow and gun hunting, snow and water skiing, biking, hiking, and camping with his family and friends. Potvin has been a sponsoring member of Ducks Unlimited, including serving on the organization’s board of directors; and he has been active with Quality Deer Management. He is a member of the National Rifle Association and is very active in the local community, serving on the Board of Directors for the President Gerald R. Ford Council, Boy Scouts of America, and as Assistant Scoutmaster with the local Boy Scout Troop 125 in Cadillac.We are very honored to have Rep.
