Declutter challenge - Day 1
When I returned home from our late summer vacation, I noticed my kitchen table looked like a mini battle took place. There were notebooks, pens, highlighters, two Bibles, about 10 magazines and so much clutter swarming the table! It was frankly embarrassing. So embarrassing I went to check email. What? You don’t practise avoidance therapy? I got an email about a 20 Day decluttering challenge, actually a Decluttering Cure from Apartment Therapy and their pro Taryn Williford. It was the nudge I needed to just do this. Plus the event wasn’t starting until the day after Labor Day which gave me a little peace.
DAY ONE - SET UP OUR DECLUTTERING BOXES - First just a little heads up, I am not going detail by detail here. I am sharing mainly on air, but sometimes you want to dive in deeper. This is going to be the easiest day I just know it, and I appreciate when a cleaning expert takes it easy on us.
Gather three boxes, baskets or bags and mark them - Sell, Donate (that covers donating to charity or giving to a friend-PS if you are the type to give your hand-me-downs to your friends…I LOVE YOU!) and Maybe . The maybe box is for those things that you just don’t know about yet. You might keep, you might sell, you might keep IF you can find a good place for them but for now you want them removed from where they are. That’s it. Three boxes, baskets or bags-three labels Sell, Donate & Maybe. Join me if you’d like it is not to late to sign up at Apartment Therapy!
