Do you ever feel a bit scattered? I do, which is likely why I forgot to share Day Ten of our Declutter Challenge from Apartment Therapy’s Declutter cure SOOOO Day Ten is Today. Sorry about that. Ready?
DAY 10 - WORK THROUGH SOME OF YOUR ASPIRATIONAL CLUTTER
Today is about removing ASPIRATIONAL CLUTTER. Aspirational Clutter is that clutter that is made up of items for the future you. I would say my aspirational clutter would be a plethora of diet and fitness books that I don’t use. I do have some with recipes I use, but the others-really, how many do I need?
Taryn advises just going through your routine and maybe even pretend you are looking for something and as you do, keep an eye out for the aspirational clutter. For example, from Taryn, she said not that guitar you pluck on occasion but maybe the dusty yoga matt. I’m thinking maybe any exercise equipment that is now a clothes hanger. We all have stuff. Please don’t feel guilty about it, and don’t feel like you have to get rid of it today. It could go in your maybe box.
Sometimes the future you things cause the current us to feel a bit negative, not inspired. If you aren’t inspired into action by some of these future things, there is nothing wrong with donating them.
