The Promise FM participated in Gaylord’s annual Bountiful Harvest by giving out cookies to volunteers as they worked to load food boxes for families in need. 10 area churches contributed financially and with volunteers to take Thanksgiving meals to 650 families around Otsego County on Monday, Nov. 23rd. The ten churches involved included, Gaylord Evangelical Free Church, United Methodist Church, Gaylord Family Fellowship, Mount Hope Church, Crosspoint Church, Life Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Pigeon River Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church of Gaylord, and Peace Lutheran Church. Families were given a turkey, 5# of potatoes, stuffing, rolls, green beans, gravy, a gallon of milk, pumpkin pie, and even the aluminium pan to cook the turkey in. This year the book, “The Story” by Max Lacado was given to each family. Volunteers delivering the food are encouraged to pray with each family and invite them to attend one of the sponsoring churches in the future. This is a wonderful event and a great blessing to our community. Special thanks to John Rakis who is the organizer of this event.
